RT Journal A1 Rapoport AM, Tepper SJ T1 TRiptans are all different JF Archives of Neurology JO Archives of Neurology YR 2001 FD September 1 VO 58 IS 9 SP 1479 OP 1480 DO 10.1001/archneur.58.9.1479 UL http://dx.doi.org/10.1001/archneur.58.9.1479 AB THERE ARE 4 triptans currently available in the United States, and 3 more are expected to be approved by the Food and Drug Administration. Although they are all 5-HT1B/1D(serotonin1B/1D) agonists, they each have slightly different pharmacokinetic characteristics and clinical strengths and weaknesses, and they can be used in special ways to optimize migraine therapy. Thus, triptans differ significantly clinically, and the astute clinician uses these differences to optimize patient treatment.1- 2
