This well-written, single-authored text reviews the anatomy of the peripheral nervous system and the clinical manifestations, diagnostic approach, and management of localized disorders. After a few overview chapters, including "The Diagnosis of Focal Neuropathies," which contains an abundance of clinical pearls, the bulk of the chapters are organized according to each of the major subdivisions of the peripheral nervous system. Thus, chapter titles range from "The Lower Cervical Spinal Nerves" to "The Brachial Plexus" and "The Digital Nerves." There are also chapters devoted to "Mononeuropathy Multiplex" and "Neuropathic Pain."
The book is abundantly illustrated with imaging studies and line drawings. Tables and management flow charts are informative. The chapters are well referenced. The book is directed to the clinician; it is not heavily laden with detailed electromyographic or nerve conduction technicalities.
Dr Stewart does not hesitate to give his opinion after summarizing the literature of controversial entities such as the
