Dr Tornatore received a consulting fee from Novartis. Dr A. Gershon has served as a paid Novartis consultant. Dr M. Gershon has received research grants from the National Institutes of Health. Dr Levin received a consulting fee from Novartis for issues that preceded developing this manuscript, receives funds as a consultant for Merck Research Laboratories, shares in a patent for Zostavax, and serves on an adjudication committee for GlaxoSmithKline for an investigational herpes zoster vaccine.
